Hiroko Yoda and Matthew Alt have long worked to harness the linguistic
skills of both native Japanese and native English speakers
in the creation of accurately localized content. In January of 2003,
they founded AltJapan Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based company dedicated to
helping the game, television, film, and toy industries successfully
adapt their products for the global marketplace.

Hiroko Yoda, a native of Tokyo,
Japan, holds a Masters degree in International Peace
and Conflict Resolution from American University in
Washington, D.C. Her diverse experience includes interpretation
for United Nations delegations; translation and localization
of dialog for game software and comic books; and translation
and proofreading of television scripts. She is also a certified language examiner for applicants
and employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. |

Matthew Alt, a native of Washington,
D.C., has been working as a professional translator
and freelance writer since the early 1990s. His translation
experience includes four years
as an in-house technical Japanese translator for the
United States Patent and Trademark Office. His work
as a writer and specialist in Japanese
pop-cultural phenomena has appeared in the magazines ToyFare,
Anime Invasion, Super 7, InQuest Gamer, and the Playboy website, among many others.
He is also the co-author of Super #1 Robot, published in 2005 by Chronicle Books. |
